They are about dinosaurs with personality and will be enjoyed by children of all ages. Some of these dinosaur books are part of a series or by an author that has written several books so these books can lead you to more great read-aloud books.

Tyrannosaurus Rex vs Edna The Chicken by Douglas Reese
T-Rex is a bully. He roars and scares all the other dinosaurs out of the forest. Edna the chicken is not afraid of him. She will not let him push her around. My grandchildren were laughing out loud when I read this book to them. The story hints at why dinosaurs are extinct and chickens are not! This is one of our favorite dinosaur books!
Fly Guy: Dinosaurs by Tedd Arnold (series)
A boy, Buzz, has a pet fly named Fly Guy. They go on lots of adventures together. This time they are visiting the natural history museum and learning all about dinosaurs. The rest of the book is filled with facts about dinosaurs and the time period they lived. This book is entertaining and educational. There are some fun side comments from Buzz and Fly Guy. Kids love all the Fly Guy books!
Dino-Racing (series) by Lisa Wheeler
This story combines all kinds of dinos racing different kinds of cars with a clever rhyming verse and bold colorful illustrations. It’s a high-speed crazy read with all the dinosaur favorites competing to win. This is a great book for kids who love dinosaur books and books about things that go! The Girl and The Dinosaur by Hollie Hughes
A young girl named Marianne digs for dinosaur bones on the beach. She is patient and eventually uncovers a dino skeleton she names Bony. That night she makes a wish that the bones will come to life. Her wish comes true. Marianne and Bony go on a journey together to a magical moonlit island in the sky.
We Don’t Eat Our Classmates by Ryan Higgins (series)
Penelope Rex was a little nervous to start school. Her parents reassure her and get her a new backpack and lunchbox. Finally the big day comes. Penelope is surprised to find all her classmates are children. It’s hard to make friends when they look so delicious and you want to eat them! A creative story full of humor! There are two more books in this series and more great books by Ryan Higgins.
Non fiction dinosaur books
When Sue Found Sue by Toni Buzzeo
Sue Hendrickson loved to find things as a child. Her curiosity led her to many unusual things. She loved to learn more about the world around her. When she was older she traveled the world. She joined teams of curious, dedicated treasure hunters. Her greatest find was the most complete, best preserved Tyrannosaurus Rex skeleton that she found in South Dakota. The team she was with named the T-Rex, Sue, after the woman who discovered her. Intersting book based on a true story.
Dinosaurs by Gail Gibbons
This book is perfect for young paleontologists. There are plenty of facts about a variety of types of dinosaurs and how they lived. It has just the right amount of information for young children and has beautiful watercolor illustrations. This is a great non-fiction dinosaur read-aloud book. Gail Gibbons has lots of great science books for kids.

Dino-Mike by Franco
Mike Evans is the son of a famous paleontologist. He travels the world with his dad. He has some adventures of his own that involve a mix of time travel and magic as he experiences real life dinos and meets some new friends along the way. This series of 7 books has black and white illustrations on each page. A great series for dinosaur lovers!
